When we drove in to Lahaina from the airport we passed an old train and immediately knew that would be something we would partake in at some point during our vacation. I learned that Randy rode it once when he was a kid, too :)
The sugar cane train was awesome. It was an old steam engine and it was amazing to see it blow off it's steam. We even stopped so they could fill it up, so neat. Kaden was in little boy heaven. He naturally LOVES trains, anything with wheels, anything that drives. His little expressions were just priceless and of course I was snapping away as to capture every little moment, a new adventure and adorable memories that I can freeze forever. Kaleiah was cranky, didn't want a part of ANYTHING and even fell asleep on the train ride (which was very unusual bc it was only about 2 hours since asking up and before naps). Turns out she wasn't feeling well bc soon after she had a fever and was miserable the rest of the day/night. Thankfully she was better the next day!
The train ride was peaceful and the scenery was beautiful. The conductor was a a native Hawaiian with that amazing Hawaiian accent. He was actually from Lanai and he told us LL bout Hawaiian history and heritage as we rode along. So, so interesting and fun.
The next day Daddy went golfing with his Dad, Uncle and sister so Nana and Auntie Jan took us to the Aquarium. To say K&K loved it is an understatement. They really enjoyed looking at all of the fish. Their favorite part, which they still talk about daily, was when a scuba diver who was in the GIANT fish tank (it was one yo coudl walk through so it was like being in a tunnel made of glass and being surrounded by the fish and rays and sharks) came up to the window and waved to them. Then he motioned to watch him, that he was going down. He was ou of sight for 30 seconds and then all of a sudden these giant ring bubble came floating up! K&K loved that! Pretty impressive, I've never seen anyone blow a ginat ring bubble under water! Afterwards we had lunch and then went back to the room for naps. It was a super fun time!
