bling bling!

On Sep. 28 we got Kaleiah's ears pierced! We wanted to do it earlier when she was a little baby but never got around to it. Randy was probably even more excited than me :) He thought she would look so cute (and does she ever) but I was not looking fwd to her having to go through the pain but it's so quick and she was a tough girl! She cried more because she was scared and confused about what was going on than the actual pain (or so it seemed :)) Anyways, she did great and looks soooooooooo precious!

Remembering the day I went home...

A few days ago on Sep. 26th marked one year since I left the hospital following over 2 months of bed rest! To say that was an emotional day is a total understatement. We were happy, relieved, terrified (knowing we were now to monitor and medicate w/ no care of nurses or Dr.'s anymore), nervous (when would the babies come????) and thankful.
I have video of that day, my huge self waddling up to our home (after not walking more than 30 seconds a day for 2+ mo) but I can't find the camera battery so this pic will have to do!

Fall Family Photoshoot

A few weeks ago we had some family pictures taken by our friend and a VERY talented photographer named Trever Hoehne (http://www.treverhoehne.com/blog/).

I am beyond thrilled with how they turned out and feel so blessed that we captured these amazing moments in time, forever. This past year has been the most amazing, beautiful, thrilling and hardest season of our lives! We owe every piece of glory to God for protecting and providing for us.

There were hundreds and hundreds of pictures but here are just a few of my favorites:

Let's go Angels, let's go!!

Today was a wonderful day, Randy came home early and we took the babies to their very first baseball game...an Angels game of course!
We dressed them in head to toe Angels gear and it was A-D-R-O-A-B-L-E!
We knew it was going to be hot but oh my gosh, was it HOT! It was 102 degrees and I have never seen the babies faces so red! I made sure they drank plenty of water, we went in and out of the air conditioning and I wiped them down with a cold, wet paper towel. Also, we got snow cones with just ice and with all of that, they stayed pretty cool!
Our first stop was to say hi to Grampa (who works there as his 2nd and "for fun" job)! Daddy also works there once in a while so it was neat to show the babies :) Grampa of course loved their outfits and was showing them off as any proud grampa would :)

Next, we headed to the Angel's team store to get Kaden a hat (we forgot his at home) and after seeing how much Kaleiah loved the rally monkey obviously we had to get the babies their first one! Kaleiah's is pink and Kaden's is red and white :) We also made a very smart purchase in the form of a spray fan, you know, the kind that create mist? It was amazing to have and kept us cool!

We actually walked around the whole time, never sat in our seats. The babies were loving the new sights and sounds, they love experiencing new places. I love as parents that we can expose them to new things and see the learning taking place. I love so much to see the world as they see it, so fresh and new!
We had fun just walking around and experiencing our first game together as a family. Randy and I have gone many times together and even once while I was pregnant, and this one was by far the BEST ONE! I am so in love with the little family God has blessed us with!

The babies draw lost of attention wherever we go and today was no different. Lots of stares and comments and random people coming up to us, because they looked so darn cute in all their gear! People always comment on how happy, well behaved and sociable they are. They love people and are just such happy and easy going babies. God blessed us more than we could have imagined with these two.
We ran into some friends from church who were there with their team and graciously invited us up to their suit for a little bit. It was so nice bc we could let the babies play and cool down! It was nice to rest and escape the heat !

Kaden will grow up loving baseball I'm sure, because he comes from a long line of baseball lovers/players. I can't WAIT for the tradition of Daddy taking him to games. It's going to be memories that will last forever.
After we left the suit, I fed the babies and Kaden immediatly fell asleep. I carried him all the way to the car through the roaring crowd, loud noises and blazing heat and he never woke up!

All in all, the day was pretty awesome. Anytime we experience a "first" with the babies is always an extra special day. Today was so great and so fun. I was so impressed (but not surprised ;)) by how well they did with the heat, loudness and all of the stimulation. I just wish we could have gone to more games this season! :)

This time last year.........

On this day one year ago, I had been laying in a bed in the hospital for 8 weeks. Little did I know I had just one more week before they would release me. Little did I know that my babies would be born 11 days after this day.
On this day, one year ago I had my third Fetal Fibronectin test. This test is given to give Dr.'s an idea if a baby is going to be born prematurely. If it comes back positive, it doesn't mean you will for sure deliver early but usually that is the case. If it comes back positive it means you may deliver in the next 10 days and this gives Dr.'s the chance to administer steroid shots to help the babies lungs develop faster.
If the test comes back negative, it means you absolutely will not deliver in the next 10 days (and maybe even anytime soon). So it has a huge false positive but if it's negative, you can pretty much rest easy.
In my case when I was admitted (at just 23 and a half weeks), the outlook was very grim. I didn't know at the time but I don't believe my Dr. and the other's had much hope of me being able to keep the babies in very long. I was contracting every 3 min, had a shortened cervix and Kaden's head was extremely low. Well, it was time to take the test (extremely painful) and as the results were being processed, Randy prayed as he, my mom and friend Jessica stood over my bed. We prayed for a negative test result. We knew it wasn't likely but we also knew our God was mighty and we trusted Him.
A while later when we learned it was negative, we all sobbed. Even my Dr. teared up, she was absolutely speechless. None of the Dr.'s expected that answer. God is so good!
Fast fwd to 9/19/08 and my it was time for my 3rd test as I was now 31 weeks. I had a 2nd test about a week before and it was skewed bc the nurse caused bleeding which makes the test unreliable. So, on this day for my 3rd time.............it came back positive :( Of course this was a terrifying feeling. I was scared to death that the babies were going to come that night or very soon. But Randy and I tried to reassure ourselves that again, it's a huge false positive and doesn't always mean they will be born in the next 2 weeks. But because it was positive, I had to be give the two steroid shots for the babies lungs. Randy said this needle was HUGE. All I know is it HURT and went deep down into my muscle causing soreness for days and days. And, of course it was on each side of my bum, so I was constantly lying on that area! Ouch!
And who knew in just 11 days, the twins would be born. So, the test was right. I am just so thankful that we were able to know so we could help the babies along by giving the steroids for their lungs.
I can't believe that was a year ago. It's so very fresh in our minds. Man, what we went through to get them here HEALTHY and SAFE!
I'd do it all again.
Thank you Lord for your protection!

We are 11 months!

Kaden:
I am such a boy, I am loud and love to explore everything! My favorite thing is knobs on drawers and cabinets. I love to pull myslef up on them and walk from one to the other in the kitchen. But, I am scared of a lot of things at first! We went to Chuck-E-Cheese for the first time for my counsins 2nd b-day and I got so scared of that big mouse. Below is a pic of me crying bc I was so scared. I am just sensitive, Mommy says. Speaking of Mommy, I am still a total Mamma's boy (which she says she LOVES) and I think I always will be :) I love my Mommy!! I have changed a lot in the past few months. I am loosing my baby fat and starting to look like a little boy! This makes Mommy sort of sad. But, we are almost 1! Mommy says she is in denial about it, that she just can't believe this fact. My hair is coming in more every day. It's a soft strawberry blond color. My eyes are turning more green from blue. I really look just like Mamma! I love to play with my cars from grampa and I love the pool. I am getting more adventurous with finger food, I love the meat sticks from Gerber, rice, blueberries, bread oh and my new favorite thing is mini pancakes!! Every morning after Mommy feeds us breakfast, she gives me and sissy one so that we leave her alone and let HER eat breakfast. We are always begging at her and she never gets to eat. I mean seriously, almost never! :) We looooove these mini pancakes but Mommy knows they aren't very nutritious so she limits us :) But what a treat! Well, I am going to change so much in the nest few months, you won't believe your eyes. We will be ONE on Sep. 30!
Love, Kaden

Kaleiah
:
"I am a hoot, just like Mommy" is the new onesie Mamma got me and you guess it, it has an owl on it! But I really am a hoot! I make up so many words and funny sounds. Everyone is always laughing! My first real word that I have been saying for a few weeks is "cracker!" I can say it and I know what I mean when I do. I say it when I want a graham cracker which is my new fav. snack. I love lots of foods, especially bread. Me and Mommy are bread girls! I could eat a loaf of bread if she let me! But Mamma and Daddy realized that it may be making my tummy hurt at night bc I waking crying w/ a tummy ache. So they have decided to lay off the bread for now :( I tried black olives and cooked green pepper the other night from Mommy's pizza and I liked it! I LOVE rice just like brother. I will try almost anything. I am somewhat fearless, not scared of much. I LOVED Chuck, unlike Kaden! I am adventurous just like Daddy and Kaden is reserved just like Mommy. My hair is long enough that Mommy can clip on a flower clip to it but she said it looks silly so she clips it on a headband. Mommy got me a tutu to wear for my 1 yr but she let me wear it early, to church and I looked like a princess! She has been searching everywhere for the right color to make me one for my birthday. I hope she does! I talk all the time and I say "Oh!" a lot. I have a soft little girl voice they say :) I love to give kisses to most everything, but I don't give kisses to people a lot yet. I have to be in the mood. But I always give kisses to Kaden. Enjoy the pics of me from my 11th month!
Love, Kaleiah (Ku-lay-uh) :)

A post from 1 year ago, today!

PRAISE GOD. We have now made it into the 30's! I am 30 weeks exactly, today. All I can do is thank God. We are praying for 5-7 more before we meet these miracles but would even be grateful for 2-4 more.
We have quite a bit to update (and will do so in the next few days) but I usually leave the blogging to Randy as it's very hard and awkward for me to type laying down and on my side. To all of you I haven't written back to via email, myspace etc please know it's not bc I don't care or don't want to...it's just very hard. Anyways, here are a few pics of my belly at 30 weeks. I got a few minutes today with my monitor off so we seized the moment. Also, my awesome Dr. was SO thoughtful and brought me cupcakes to celebrate. Not just any cupcakes but Sprinkles! AND my two favorites, carrot cake and coconut :)She is so great. THANK YOU as always for your prayers, just look how they are being answered. Our God is amazing.
