6 months old!!!

How are they 6 months old already!? HOW!?!? It actually makes me a little emotional, a little sad. It's a reminder that they grow up in the blink of an eye and well, I'm not ready. I wish the days would slow down. I try my best to savor each day with them as little babies but they just keep getting older. Each time they start doing something new it's very exciting but then it's a little sad bc again it is a reminder that they are really developing and growing up. But it's wonderful. Even before them, 6-8 months was my favorite age of baby's so it is really fun. They are just so playful and have so much personality.

Kaden is a very happy baby! He is patient, sweet and easy going. He sleeps really well and loves new things. He has this cute little laugh he does when he gets excited :) He has started laughing when Daddy kisses his belly and it makes me smile ear to ear. He loves to reach for and grab things! He loves to be snuggled by Mommy.

Kaleiah is very talkative when she wants to be. She babbles to herself much of the day in this sweet tiny voice and it almost sounds like she is singing bc she drags it out. Sometimes it's very quiet and sometimes it's loud like a squaking bird! When that happens we call her our little terradactyl :) She is so smiley and playful. She loves to roll over. She is very quick to do it and does it well! She loves to stand on our lap, it makes her very proud when we tell her how strong she is! She loves to hold her feetsies now too!

Life is so fun right now. They are at such a fun age and we have started going out more with them. Today in Babies R Us a new Dad of twins stopped us and was asking advice which we gladly offered up. Then I met a girl around my age there who is having twin girls! She asked me if I was breast feeding and we talked about it and I shared some advice with her too! Twins are so common these days!

Today at their 6 month check up they got their usual 2 shots each and actually handled them very well! Their Dr. says they look perfect and developing great! She said I was "amazing" for still nursing them exclusively. She said their weight gain is fantastic so I think I can officially quit worrying if they get enough from just me! :) I love it, it's so rewarding.
Kaden now weighs 14lb 140z and is 25 1/2 in. Kaleiah is 13lb 4oz and is 26 in, 1/2in taller than brother!
Their Dr. gave the go ahead on starting rice cereal and veggies but Randy and I are in no hurry. We'll probably start in a few weeks to a month. Their adjusted age is only 4-4 1/2 months old so there really is no rush. But trust us, when they do try it for the first time it will be videoed! :)
These babies blow me away. They are amazing and have brought more joy, happiness and purpose to our lives than we could have imagined. They are a gift from God and I am so grateful that He chose ME as their Mamma!

Carpe Diem

Yesterday we took our weekly North Beach trail walk down to the pier. It was mid morning and absolutely gorgeous. We decided to carpe diem and get brunch at one of our favorite places that has crepes! It's a cute little place across the street from the ocean. The babies woke up and joined us as we ate. They loved looking around at all the new, exciting things. Such a fun morning!

What our babies are doin

Physical Development

"If you've been in the habit of leaving your baby on a bed, couch, or table to kick and play, pay special attention now. Any second, he's going to roll over, if he hasn't already. Further, while some babies are content with a tentative roll now and then, others quickly turn into whirling dervishes, able to cover large distances (like the width of a queen-size bed) in what seems like the blink of an eye. For many parents, the knowledge that a formerly immobile child is now a rocking, rolling speed demon comes with a horrifying "clunk!" as baby hits the floor. To be safe, have baby play on carpets or activity mats as soon as he can push up on his arms, arch back to lift his chest, and rock on his stomach (the precursors of rolling)."

Social Development

"Although it's still too early for full-blown stranger anxiety, you may notice that your little one is getting picky about his company. He recognizes and is developing a strong attachment to you and the people who regularly care for him, and is curious but more reserved around others. When he meets a stranger, he'll study the new face for a long time before favoring the visitor with a smile. Once he feels comfortable, however, he'll turn on the charm, showing off his new skills and babbling happily to his new friend."

Our outing

Today we took advantage of yet another GORGEOUS day in SC and went for a walk on the North Beach Trail. I love the ocean, it takes away my stress and I always default to praying when I stand before it. So I love to be near it whenever I can (thankfully I can see it from my house :)!) The babies definitely love the fresh air and new scenery too! It was great quality time and also some good exercise. We are going to make it a weekly thing!
God is love,
Megan

Exactly a year ago on the 12th, Randy and I had one of the biggest prayers of our life answered. We prayed for God to bless us with a child and we waited anxiously for the test to reveal the answer. Of course a few weeks later we would learn that sometimes you when you pray for a miracle, God gives you two! Here are some never before seen pictures moments after we found out!
I can't beleive it's been a year!!

Dr. appt 3/5

This morning we took the babies up to the hospital for their 4th round (and hopefully the last) of RSV shots. As always, I dreaded this day bc I hate to see them in pain but a few shots is better than a few weeks in the hospital w/ a very serious virus. Poor babies spent enough time there already!
They always get weighed and as of today our big boy came in at 13lb 110z, gaining 2 pounds in 1 month! Our little peanut as we call her is 12lb 4oz, just 4oz shy of 2 pounds in a month also!! They have tripled their birth weight :) No more worrying about if they are getting enough to eat from nursing! :)
Flu season is wrapping up and I can't wait to take them wherever we want this spring and summer! They have remained so healthy from a combination of the shots and us keeping them out of crowded places! I thank God for their health everyday.

5 months old!

It is truly hard for me to believe that Kaden and Kaleiah are now 5 months old. It's bitter sweet because on one hand I'm sad how fast they are growing up but on the other I love how they are changing and developing into such fun babies!
All parents say don't blink bc it goes by so fast...boy are they right. I think about when we first brought them home and it feels like last week. We saw them every single day for 5 weeks in the NICU and that too feels just like yesterday. Even me being pregnant really feels like yesterday. Probably a dozen times a day when I'm playing with them or just holding them I think about how it was to have them inside my belly. I remember them kicking and moving and how when I was pregnant I wondered what they would look like and be like. Now they are almost half way to 1 year old. How does that happen? I constantly look at pictures of them from when they were in the NICU and when they were just a few months old. They have changed SO MUCH and have come a long way. I absolutely love being their Mommy, it is truly indescribable. Every time I look at them I still thank my heavenly Father for protecting all 3 of us during my best rest and for the fact that Kaden and Kaleiah are such healthy, happy little babies! I still just can't beleive they are 5 months old!

This is probably my all time favorite picture of them together, that I took yesterday!

Today, 3/2/09 Kaleiah rolled over from her back to her tummy!
