my baby is becoming a little boy!

Kaden is looking like such a little boy lately and I think it's bc he's getting more hair! I LOVE his hair! And I love how he has my exact coloring and Daddy's features. Perfect mix <3

so cute!

Kaleiah has just entered the world of baby dolls. She is so interested in them, she loves to feed them. We have a few random dolls here but not a real baby doll that comes with a little bottle...I really need to get her one! There's one at my parents house that she plays with. She's such a little Mommy! And she's growing up so fast!

First pool day of the summer!

We have a pool in our community about 2 minutes away, walking distance. I have been waiting for the June gloom to let up so we could go to the pool and today it did! My 7 year old niece is here for a few weeks on summer break so she came over to go swimming. It was the babies 3rd time ever and first time this summer.
They were not fans of the cold water. It was seriously cold. But I think they are also just used to warm, bath water. They didn't mind sitting on the edge with their adorable feetsies in or even sitting on the first step but this year they were not too fond of their rafts or being in very much.
My dad helped us get settled and then it was just me, my twins and Maddy. My chest was tight nearly the whole time bc babies + pools make me so nervous. I know all it takes is one quick look away, or one second of letting go to even adjust my hat and they can fall in. I NEVER took my hands off them but with two almost two year olds who have their own opinions, not to mention different personalities and needs (one did not want to be near the water, one wanted to go in) it was pretty hard! So, as much as I enjoyed myself, I also had a little anxiety :) And this people, is why I can't go to the pool with them by myself. It bums me out but I have even had people say, you don't know until you try! What? It's barely even possible. When they are older, for sure. But right now, especially at this age...not so much. I was so thankful when Maddy would come and help me if I needed it. Otherwise I would have probably have had a panic attack, lol!
Again, babies+pools just scares me.
ANYWAYS, these pictures are to die for, I could just eat them up in all of their cuteness. I seriously love having twins AND one of each!!!

June 17, 2008!

Oh my gosh, today marks TWO years since we found out what our two peas in a pod were!!! That was one of the best days of my life! :) So freaking fun. So many emotions. I am soooo happy we captured it on video. I can't wait to show it to the twins one day :) When I watch it I feel all of those same emotions, totally makes me relive it!
Randy admits that he reaction was "dull" in comparison to mine. He was so into explaining what happened at the Dr. appointment instead of reacting to the news! I don't think it really hit him yet. But it hit me like a mac truck and I was sooooo giddy! Goodness, I just love it!

Maddy!

Last summer my brother and his family moved back to Colorado after being out here for about 5 years. It was hard to know they wouldn't be at every family BBQ or Holiday w/ us anymore.
His oldest daughter, my niece Madeline came out here for a few weeks while on summer break and today we went to the park. She has a little sister just 4 months older than the twins so she is awesome with them! We had lots of fun

SUMMER!

Today really felt like summer! It was hot (in Irvine) and we took K&K to the Spectrum where they have this little area that shoot up water (you may remember it from a previous post where we let them play in it fully clothed) :)
Today we dressed in their bathing suits and brought towels and dry clothes! They had SO.MUCH.FUN. It was quite the place to be, so many other parents must have had our same idea :) I love watching them have so much fun, they experience pure joy which in turn makes me experience pure joy. I love being a Mommy!

Nursery!

K&K, I just realized, I don't think I have ever posted a photo of your nursery...and since this blog is my "journal" to document your sweet, little lives...I needed to do so!
In our previous home, the one you came home to, I was hospitalized before we even began the nursery. Since I was only 23 weeks, we hadn't started yet...we thought we still had plenty of time. So, it was hard for me to pick out your bedding etc just by looking online from my hospital bed. Finally found a boy bedding I LOVED and searched for weeks for a girl bedding that I would love. I wasn't dead set on having matching themes but when my mom found the exact same bedding but for a girl...I fell in llove and had to have it!
My amazing family helped get it all ready but it broke my heart that I couldn't be there physically doing it. I think that's one of the most exciting things along the journey, getting the nursery ready!!! I can tell you, I had looked forward to that forever. But I had to pick out paint colors and explain where to place things, all from my hospital bed :( I am so grateful for everyone who helped though. Daddy was great about understand my desires and he would bring me pictures to look at as it was coming along. It looked great!!!! But I was always a little sad that I didn't actually get to help.
When we moved a year ago (you had just turned 7 months) I finally got my chance to "help" with your new room!!! I was so excited to go pick out paint by actually going to the store, taking your blankets with me to match and to actually paint it myself!!! I secretly love painting :) I felt like I had so much more say this time around and the fact that I got to put my sweat into it meant so much to me. We did things a little differently with this room, but just paint wise. The first nursery was a nice tan color, tying in the tan from both bedding sets and also because it was totally gender neutral. My dad helped install the beautiful, white chair rail. I can't find a picture of your old room at the moment :/
This time we decided to add some color. I matched the paint to specific colors in your bedding and I LOVE it still to this day. It's bright and cheerful and fun. And I loved being a part of it! :) Hope when you look back at this you will love it too :)

20 months already??

Wow, in just 4 short months you will be TWO! This, I just can't believe! There is no way I feel like I am about to have two 2 years old!
This year went by so much faster than your first year and I really doubted that such a thing was possible. But, ever since you turned one, you have been the most fun of all!
The older you get, the more you learn and the more your personalities bloom. You have given us non stop laughs and made this one of our very favorite years ever!

Kaden William,
You are still as easy going as ever! I hope that will never change, it's such a great quality! You have become such a little boy over the past few months. You love to rough house, you love getting messy and you are super strong!

You love your sister! You will grab your sister from behind, wrap your arms around her and give her the tightest hug in the world! Often it startles her (and sometimes makes her fall) but you mean nothing but love!

You love our new van and the first thing you do is climb up to the driver's seat to "drive" which is so cute.

You love to have your teeth brushed.

You're two top eye teeth have broken through which will make 8 top teeth including your top two molars. Along with your 4 bottom teeth, your first two molars have broken through as well! You've always been amazing when it comes to teething. You never really act any different but we can tell when it's bothering you.

You have gotten so.much.hair. the past month! It's such a soft strawberry blonde color! It's actually long enough for me to style, in the form of a Mohawk :) Which we do after every bath :)

You are still 100% a Mamma's boy. You never let me forget that I am your #1. I love when I'm rocking you and you'll nuzzle your little face up to mine and put your little hand on my cheek and just hold my face against yours.

You LOVE to cuddle with me and I love if just as much...probably more :) I love the morning when Daddy brings you in if sissy is still asleep and you just cuddle with me as we both wake up.

You are obsessed w/ tummy, you're always pulling my shirt up to lay on my tummy, give it kisses or just put your feetsies on it (something you have done since you were a baby when you wee nursing). Daddy and I crack up bc it's usually the first thing you do, get a little foot up there and rest it on my tummy! You love to sit on my lap facing me and stick both your feet under my shirt. You think it's so funny!

I love the bond we have, it's so special and it's what I always prayed to have with my son. I tell Daddy all the time I hope we are always this close. I hope you grow up to respect me, tell me everything and always be that sweet, respectful Mamma's boy. My prayer is that I can be a Godly example to you as a mother, that you see God's love in the way I love you, your sister and Daddy. I will always be your biggest fan and will always stand behind you. You are going to make an amazing young man one day!

I love your sweet, sensitive, smart, easy going, friendly, sometimes shy personality!
I love you so, so, so much!

Kaleiah Hope,
You are so dang smart! You know as many words as someone about a year older than you! You learn new words every day. And you remember them. I have always been blown away by your memory (being able to remember and recall is a milestone set for 24 months, you've been already doing it for 6) and association skills!

One morning last week you and I were sitting on the couch and you had your boo (your blanket) and I was sitting under my blanket that I always use on the couch. You pointed to it and said "Mommy's boo?" which made me laugh then you point to the one Daddy always uses and said"Daddy's boo?" I asked you what color each of them were and of course you knew. Later that night while driving in the van you randomly said "Mommy's boo?" I knew you must have been thinking about it so I decided to see if you would remember the color after being told just once that morning. I asked you and after a second of silence you told me mine was red and Daddy's was yellow!

You currently don't have any new teeth coming in that I know of, you have 6 on top including two molars and same for the bottom! You are not a fan of us brushing your teeth because, like EVERYTHING else, you want to do it yourself :) So it can be a little difficult at times :)

I love your sweet, smart, independent, adventurous, sometimes dramatic personality :) I hope we continue to be close and have that special mother daughter relationship. I want you to come to me with everything, I want to be your best friend but never stop being your mother. I have seen some relationships that are the perfect balance and that is what I hope for. I can't wait to see the beautiful woman you become and what you accomplish. I love you more than words!

In the past month/six weeks you both have mastered your colors. Honestly, it still blows me away. I researched it and also learned from talking to a lot of Mom's that this milestone isn't usually reached until 3 years old! Seriously, that's amazing that you both already know your colors. The ones you can point out when asked, bring me something that color when asked and also tell me on your own are:
Yellow
Red
Blue
Green
Purple
Orange
Pink
White
Black

You also know the following shapes when asked or just when you are playing you point them out:
Heart
Star
Moon
Circle
Square
Triangle

You are talking so much it is nearly impossible to list them this time! Kaleiah, you have started to talk in groups of 3 (sometimes 4) words most of the time. Like when we were at the park and you were climbing the stairs and turned around and said "Mommy help you?" Or "Steps careful boom!" Kaden, you talking 2-3 words too and although it's not as pristine as Kaleiah's words, I can always understand you!
It's so crazy to me how much you both talk and understand. I can ask you if you want something and you'll intentionally tell me yes or know. You will come to me and ask for what you want weather it's a drink, to go outside (even specifically the "swings/ slides"), tell me where you got hurt etc. It definitely makes things easier!

You have changed so much, even in the past month, it's been remarkable! You learn so much everyday and I love your thirst for knowledge! There's learning opportunities in every situation and I would like to think that you know so much already bc of how much I teach you :) That's it's not just by chance :) I pride myself in teaching you knew things everyday, taking you to places to experience new surroundings and teaching you about them. That's one of the best things about staying home to raise you, I get to teach you everything you will learn...well, at least until you start school :) It's truly my honor to raise you two, you are the light of my life!

Good Night Moon

K&K love reading Good Night Moon as of the past month. After I read it to them once, they knew the title! I think every child grows up reading this book. Every night after baths we head to their room, put their baby lotion on (which KH LOVES to do by herself), put their jammies on, brush their teeth and then they immediately lye on their tummies to read :) I LOVE our night time routine so much. I cherish it.

Photos from June of last year! So plump and stout! Love it!!!
Great memories from that month, we had just settled in to our new home and they were at such a fun age...8 mo!!!
