23 weeks

Your baby's lungs are in major growth mode this week, with blood vessels expanding and preparing to help her breathe after she's born. Although she's making breathing movements in the womb (so cute!), it's still just practice with amniotic fluid; your baby will get all of her oxygen delivered from the placenta until she's born. But here's why this lung development is so fabulous: If your child should happen to arrive early (though only 2 percent of babies in the U.S. are born before 32 weeks), her odds of surviving are significantly better now that her lungs are up and running. Of course, these and other important organs still have a long way to go to become fully developed, but most experts count weeks 23 and 24 as important, reassuring milestones when it comes to long-term healthy outcomes from preterm labor.

Twenty two weeks in Texas

I have been in Austin, TX since the 18th(for a work conference) and today I'm 22 weeks and 4 days. It's crazy hot here...and humid!! On average it is 100% during the day. I must say I was a little nervous to fly and be in TX in July being nearly 6 months preggo but it's been great! Flying was not bad at all, we got my seat moved to literally right next to the bathroom which was my main concern (easy access to the bathroom) since I have to use it so frequently. I also had room to stand up and stretch in the isle. So it was nice! Being here in this weather isn't bad, I'm not one who gets hot easily so I don't mind the heat. But I make sure I don't stay in it too long and stay hydrated. The babies are still doing great! Getting bigger each week and showing me by their strong kicks and punches (which I love. They tickle).
Well, that's how I've spent my last week of my 5th month of pregnancy, in TX! Be home in a few days.

Ultrasound week 21!

On Tuesday July 15th we went in for our monthly ultrasound and we brought along my mom so she could see her grand babies :)
Since I've been having them, ultrasounds have become one of my all time favorite things so I look forward to them every month! It's like Christmas once a month :)
I knew this time they would be bigger than the last and I was excited to see how they have grown and developed. The Dr. put the gel on my belly and we saw them on the screen and right away were amazed at how much bigger they were!
Then, the best thing happened. The Dr. decided to show our babies to us in 4D! I had no idea they could do that at that location. We have a full 4D ultrasound scheduled for Aug. 1 so to get to see it this early was such a treat!
First he showed us our baby girl and she was PRECIOUS. I became emotionally instantly, seeing her sweet little face and pondering which one of us she looked like. To me, she looks so much like both of us. It was miraculous to see her in 4D, there's nothing like it! My mom and I were just ooo-ing and aah-ing at the site of her. SO CUTE!!! Randy says the first time he saw her he was just amazed. We were both so happy to see that everything looked great!!
Then the Dr. showed us our baby boy who was just as precious and cute! He is a little shy and was hard to get a very good look at but we did get a few glimpses of his little face. They both look so wonderful and I love them so much already. It was sort of unreal to see them like that and know they are inside of me.
The Dr would switch back and forth between a regular ultrasound and the 4D. In the regular one he was doing all the measuring of certain parts like the brain, cerebellum, femur, heart etc. We also learned baby boy weighs 1 lb 2 oz and baby girl weighs 1 lb 1 oz! It's mind blowing to see a1l that as well, just to see that everything is formed and it's all where it supposed to be. It's amazing to see how God has made these babies inside me.
While we were looking at them in the regular ultrasound we saw our boy's legs stretched out and his feet were crossed!! He was just chilin in there! Too cute.
We also saw our girl was making a fist except she had her pointer finger up :) It's just so cute to see what they are doing in there!
It still amazes me that I have two babies inside of me! It's amazing and miraculous and I love it.
Here are some pictures from the ultrasound, it was also recorded on VHS for us which is awesome!

Week 21

Week 21

By the end of this week, your baby will measure about 7 inches from crown to rump and tip the scales at nearly a pound. Not too shabby for someone who barely weighed an ounce 10 weeks ago! Part of her growth spurt is likely because her stomach is now equipped to start absorbing energy-boosting nutrients from the amniotic fluid she's swallowing in there. (But most of your baby's nourishment is still coming directly from the placenta.)

Your baby's hearing is becoming even more fine-tuned now. In addition to making out your heartbeat, stomach rumblings, pulsing blood vessels, and your voice resonating inside the uterus, she can also hear sounds and conversations coming from the world outside of Mama. So have your partner chat her up regularly, too! This doesn't have to be nightly renditions of Goodnight Moon, by the way. You can each read regular books or mags aloud, sing along with the radio, or even just give baby a brief recap of your day -- especially all the parts where you couldn't stop thinking about her!

Randy and I have been playing Mozart for the babies at night. Also, Randy talks to them regularly at night. They hear me all day so it's important for him to have them recognize his voice too :) Again, its been another wonderful week. Pregnancy is GREAT! I am getting bigger each week and it lets me know that they are growing and growing. I LOVE when they move and kick, it's reassurance they are really there and doing great :) And I love to imagine what they are doing. We have another ultrasound this week which I always look forward to. We LOVE seeing them, learning how they are doing and hearing their little heart beats.

Love, Megan +2

Growing belly pic!

I'm 20 weeks this week. Hard to believe. It's been an amazing 20 weeks. It's magical and humbling, being pregnant. I'm so grateful God has given me- what I believe is- one the most important jobs in the world. I've always dreamed of being a mom and I thank Him everyday that I get to be! He chose ME to bring these two precious babies into the world, literally :) And I must say, I could not imagine a better father to them than Randy. He is the most incredible man. He is already such a loving father and has always been beyond a loving husband. He is too good for words. I sort of pinch myself everyday that this is my life. It's not perfect, trust me, but God continues to shine His light on us and bless us and we don't deserve it.He is Awesome. I'm just so excited to finally doing the one thing I knew I was meant to do. My life has a million times more purpose now. I can't wait to raise these little miracles with Randy :)
