Kicking babies

At about 11 weeks I felt, what I now know, what the first "kick" or movement of one of the babies. By 13 weeks I was feeling them all the time. Faint, muscle twitch type feelings all over in my belly. These early movements are called "quickening" and it was neat to feel them.
Well, last week Randy and I were watching t.v in bed and I was lying on my side with my hand draped over my belly. All of a sudden "KICK!" Excited, I thought to myself, was that a baby kick?. I slid my hand under the cover and placed it over my belly where I had felt it. Two seconds later another one. So I quickly said "give me your hand!" to Randy and put it on my belly, without explaining why. We waited quietly and sure enough, "KICK!"
I looked over at him and his eyes got great big and he was smiling. It was so exiting! I'm so glad he was right there the first time I felt it and could feel it with me! Now, they kick all the time!
I can't believe it's to the point where we can feel it from the outside. They really do grow so fast and are getting bigger and stronger week by week. I love feeling them kicking.
Randy has gotten to feel it many times and it's the coolest thing! Saturday before the beach I was eating breakfast in my bathing suit and could feel one kicking so I looked down and just waited and watched my stomach. I saw it move about 4 times! It was so weird (n a good way)!
It's not to the point yet where it's totally obvious. They are just starting to get strong enough that we can feel them but you have to sit there with your hand in the spot where I felt em and just wait and then sometimes they like to be funny and they will stop because they know you are waiting :).

It's so exciting!

Baby registry

So, last night Randy and I had our usual date night. Last night it consisted of eating yummy cheese steaks and then we were off to register at Babies R Us! I remember when we registered for our wedding gifts and how much fun we both had. Just being able to walk around a store and scan anything you want and will hopefully get, was the best!
As soon as we walked in I said Hunny, this is going to be hard-I'm going to want to buy them clothes tonight! But once I got my hands on the scanner gun I was in shopping heaven. I yelled, "I feel like I'm shopping but I'm not buying anything!" I was pretty giddy. I was racing all over the place ooo-ing and ahhh-ing over the adorable clothes (on the girls side of course :) ) Then we went over to the lil boys and it was no different! I was saying "hunny look at this! And awww, look at these!" We were scanning, of course, the cutest little Anaheim angles onsies. He was lit up and so was I. I said "Aren't you so excited to have your little boy?" Beaming he said "uh huh!!"
Then it dawned on us-we should probably go scan some more needed things and not all clothes :)
So off we went to bottles, baths, thermometers, diaper genies, etc.
It was such a fun time for both of us! It even made us a little tired at the end so we relaxed in some awesome nursery chairs .
We only had an hour before the store closed so we didn't get too much done last night. I guess that means we are going back tonight! WOO HOO!
I seriously could not be happier with my life right now and I praise and thank the Lord for it every single day. We don't deserve to be so blessed.
I am so so so so so so so excited that we are having a girl and a boy!!!!!!!!!!! It's the best!!!!
Here are some pix of our fun night:

Week 18

This week I am 18 weeks along. I can't believe I'm pretty much half way! I really, really can't believe it. They will be here in just about 4 short months. Everyone says it flies by and it really does.
I want to spend more time relishing the beauty of pregnancy, the miracle of it and the the wonder of it all. I want to really just LOVE the new shape my body is taking, and I'm getting there! I'll admit, it's a little funny sometimes to see this protruding, round belly on me when my whole life I have been used to seeing myself just one way. It's hard to wrap my mind around what is happening inside me. But I do think a big, pregnant belly is gorgeous because of what it means. I think all pregger women are beautiful. I sort of want time to slow down because I feel like it goes faster than I have the time to take it in. I have such a new found respect for my body for what it's been going through and what its doing everyday. Plus, it doesn't hurt to have a husband who is in love with my new look, who smiles the most adorable smile every time he looks at my belly. Well, only 20 more weeks to go!

Pregnancy Fitness

We all know that exercise while pregnant, if done correctly, can be a great thing. Since we found out that Megan was pregnant we would take walks at night to get some exercise. While it was great for her, i missed my times of running or more intense work outs.
We had thought about the idea of bike riding but neither of us have bikes and buying a bike for either of us is out of the question right now.
Today i told Megan that i was going to go for a run and she suggested that she borrow her sister's bike and join me. I had a great work out and Megan had a good time of exercise too.
I think we have found a new way for Megan to get exercise and for me to get/stay in shape :-) -- and i don't mean the shape of "round" Hopefully we can keep up this evening routine!!!

Love you all!
Randy

Week 17 Ultrasound

So, yesterday was pretty much amazing. I remember the day we made the appointment and thinking, ah man, a whole month until we have to wait? Well, it flew by! The ultrasound yesterday was like a physical for the babies. They measured all sorts of things like the head, the shoulder to elbow, knee to hip, they looked at everything too. They looked for the kidney's looked at the heart, the spine...everything! They checked for cleft lip, club feet etc. It was about an hour and a half that we were in there.
It's so surreal. Actually seeing them and seeing them move, its very surreal. Seeing their little hearts beating. It's magical. One was even sucking it's thumb and my heart melted. I could just watch the ultrasound all day. Yesterday she asked if we wanted to record it so we said of course!
Baby A was the first one up and was, because of his position, (keep in mind we did not know it was him at the time) was just super hard to measure. It took her a while with him.
Baby B on the other hand was so cooperative and the nurse was just loving her (which we didn't know was a her either).
It was so cool to see how big they have gotten! 8 oz each! So I have 1 pound of babies in me! They are a lot more cramped these days too :) But they probably love it.
The Dr's (we saw 2) said everything looks just great and they were really happy with what they saw. They said there were no abnormalities! Praise God! That was the best news of all. Finding out what they were was just the icing on the cake!

Please continue to pray that they continue to grow healthy and strong.

Here are some pics of the lil cuties:

Thoughts from Dad

Lets see here- I have watched the video a dozen times or so- I've slept on it- I've talked with a bunch of people.

Here are some of the thoughts that are going through my brain:

1. In reflecting on the video i realized how DULL my reaction was to the verdict of a boy and a girl. Now some say that my response was because i already knew... that is not the case. The only thing i can think of is that i was in shock. I had convinced myself after hearing what the doctor had mentioned during our ultrasound. (Megan mentioned that she thought the doctor ruined the surprise by saying there is a possibility of the babies being identical-meaning they were the same gender.) Whatever the reason is pathetically Megan's pure joy and excitement makes my response look extremely pathetic.

The truth is i am so overjoyed that it is a boy and a girl and i really don't think it has sunk in yet.

2. I'm a bit nervous to become a dad but i think the joy of becoming a parent is currently overriding any nervousness...maybe its because i dont want to think about the work that is going to be involved. I like to just jump in to things instead of analyze what is going to happen.

3. Megan as a pregnant wife is doing great! I know you have heard on her end that things are great, but from the Husband's point-of-view, she has been great. Not whinny, or moody, or complainy (not really a word but you get what i am saying). On top of that she looks so cute with her little belly growing!

4. I hope and pray that they continue to develop healthy and strong.

5. Not only do i get a boy to play around with, rough-house with, and enjoy sports like football with; but I also get a girl who can be daddy's girl, a girl that can cuddle up on the couch with me and watch a movie, and a girl whose theme song will be "Still Cleaning This Gun" by Rodney Atkins.

The chorus goes something like this:

Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she's something else
She's her daddy's girl
Her momma's world
She deserves respect
That’s what she'll get
Ain’t it son?
Hey y'all run along and have some fun
I'll see you when you get back
Bet I’ll be up all night
Still cleanin' this gun

Boys- I know there is still a long time (like 18 years) but be careful... i know people...and you just watch yourself, i would hate for anything bad to happen to you.

6. Holy cow this is real!

Week 16

Week 16

Baby's Length: 4.5-5 in

Baby's Weight: 2.5- 3 oz..

Baby's Size: Rubber Ducky

Week 16

At somewhere around four inches long, your baby is just about big enough these days to make herself known to the outside world. Any day now -- usually between weeks 16 and 20 -- she'll be bumping up against the walls of the amniotic sac, producing those little flutters and tickles that you'll feel as "quickening." An ultrasound might be able detect your baby's sexual organs, and an external monitor could pick up the thumps of her tiny heart, which by now is pumping 25 quarts of blood a day to every corner of her growing body.

In both face and body, this baby looks more human. Her head and neck are held straighter now, and her proportions are becoming more "normal." Her eyes have now moved from the sides to the center of the face. Eyelids are shut firmly, and won't open again until the seventh month of pregnancy

I've got a baby bump

My little bump...I finally have one and there is no hiding it :)! Some days I feel like it's bigger than other days but the fact remains that they are growing remarkably, especially from last month to this month! I think how big/small I look also depends on what I wear :) Anyways, here is a couple pics of me, just started week 15!
