A few days ago I took Kaden and Kaleiah out to play in the grass and here are a few pics I took:
My friend Leigh made Kaleiah this adorable tutu!

Whoooooo do you love?
As you all probably know, I LOVE owls. I love their big eyes, they are just so cute. Kaleiah has so many articles of clothing with owls on them, I can't help myself when I see them! Today I found her the cutest owl flannels and commented to Randy that I wished they had them in my size. You can imagine my excitement when I saw that they did!!! So, here is a pic of my and my baby owl :)

A leisurely Saturday
Yesterday we spent some quality family time at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach. That is one amazing, beautiful resort we could only DREAM of staying at. And trust me, I DO! :)
We walked down to the beach and let the babies play in the sand and later, in the grass. It was a fun afternoon on a beautiful Fall day!

My little man
Riley's Farm
This week we took Kaden and Kaleiah to their first pumpkin patch in Oak Glenn. I had been dreaming of this day for so long! Last fall, the babies were BRAND NEW and in the NICU for most of Autumn so we really didn't get to enjoy it. So I was so excited for this fall bc they are at such a fun age and we knew it was going to be a blast doing things like this with them.
Two years ago Randy and I went to this place and it was so neat to take the babies and go there as a family! We go all the way out there not only because it's so cute, nestled away in the little mountains, but because it's so nice to get out of our bubble and to see a change of scenery! It's definitely a fall tradition of ours now. We made wonderful memories!
Already excited :)
We stopped at a little mom and pop general store for some mini apple cider donuts! Yum!
Our next stop was this cute little place for the petting zoo!

Play date!
Last week I met up with my friends Sue and Courtney and their babies!
Sue has two kids, Lea and Gio and Courtney has Raegan. We went to Courtney's house where us girls chatted while the babies played. K&K haven't gone on many play dates so at first they were a little weary but ended up have a blast! Rae is so sweet and kept hugging Kaleiah but she was nervous about all the new faces and a new place so she would cry :) Kaden entertained himself the whole time, he loved playing with all those new toys! It was so fun to watch them play all together. Later, Daddy came up and we had pizza w/ Courtney and her hubby Kyle. Can't wait for more play dates with them!

K&K-12 months
I will start by saying, the past month has been one of our very favorites! What a fun age!
Kaden and Kaleiah are 12 and a half months today.
They have changed SO much in just the past 2 months. They learn so many new things each day and are SO PLAYFUL, so HAPPY and so teachable. They are so smart and such quick learners. They understand so much, more than we probably think they do!
I have to say, it has been so much easier having twins now that they are a little older. Still just as busy bc everything I do is doubled-that will never change :)
They understand "no no" and other little things like "wait" or "come get it" so that is making it easier! It sort of blows my mind that we can verbally communicate and understand each other! I feel like they are just little babies still but they are becoming little people :)
That is one of the main reasons it has become "easier" because I understand them so much more, now that I have had a year with them :) I understand their needs based on their faces, their actions and now, their words. It's less of a guessing game like when they were helpless newborns.
Let's start with Kaleiah (Ladies first...I have been teaching that to Kaden :))
She has learned in the past month how to:
Blow kisses (still melts my heart, especially when she does it out of no where to me)
Wave hi and bye bye (so adorable!!!)
Shake her head no and yes
She also knows many words. She understands more words than she knows how to say but her list of what she can say is pretty impressive if you ask me :) :
Cracker
Boon (Balloon)
Ball
Baby
Shoe
Meow
Mamma
Dadda
Choo(train)
Boo!
tickle tickle
Wow
Owl
tyou(thank you)
Kaaa(Kaden)
Oh and "peewww!" Aunt Molly taught her that when she had a stinky diaper! She says with such enthusiasm too :)
Those are words she says when she sees the object or when she repeats after you! She is so dang smart and can imitate almost every word you say. It's so amazing!
The other night in the bath tub, Randy had the ducky towel and said "all my little duckies say quack quack" and with out hesitation she said "cack cack!" We just stared at each other! She is a little echoing machine! I am constantly amazed at how much they learn and how fast they change. She is as always, the sweetest, funniest baby girl with so much personality. I am so glad she is MINE :)
Kaden has started jabbering so much! Kaleiah has been doing it for so long that at first it was normal. But then we realized that he never used to talk this much so it's so funny to hear! It's very cute!! He is a typical boy, always into everything, seeing if he can pull it or yank it. He understand so much but doesn'tverbalize as much as sister. We all know girls develop faster especially in the communication skills so it's no worries! He is the SWEETEST baby boy I could have ever dreamed of. If he was someone elses son, I would be jealous :)
He is a complete and total Mamma's boy, which I always wanted!! He just has the sweetest little demeanor about him. He is so happy and so easy going, so full of love. He loves sneaking off down the hallway into the guest bathroom and being caught! I will notice he isn't around for a second and I will call his name while walking down there. I will peer in and there he is standing up at the toilet, waiting for me to see him, with the most mischievous smile! It's so cute! They both love exploring the house!
They aren't walking yet but that is fine with me! I have enough to do and have to chase them all over as it is! I can't imagine at ALL, having two walkers!!!!!!!! I am going to be a whole new level of busy!
All in all, I am loving this stage. So active and so eager to learn. I thank God every single day that I have these healthy, lovable twins!
.for their birthday they got these awesome umbrella strollers. They are cute and light weight but the best part is, we can push just one baby (something we have never done until now)!

Twins turn ONE!
I can hardly believe it (still) but my babies turned one year old on September 30th!
This past year has been surreal! It's hard for me to find the words to describe it. As I reflect on the year that has passed, the biggest emotion I have is gratefulness. I am and forever will be grateful to Jesus for laying his hand on me and my babies last summer, for protecting their lives and giving them life! I honestly think about those days in the hospital, every single day. Had one thing been different, they may not be here at all. I will never be able to thank God for his grace and protection and provision.
During the the severe bed rest, NICU and first few months home with preemie newborns it was impossible to see to this point. I couldn't imagine the next day let alone the next week or month so to see where we are a year later...it leaves me feeling speechless.
I have two of the healthiest, happiest babies ever-who constantly fill my heart with love and joy! I wake up everyday, excited. I wake up everyday thanking God for this gift. Sometimes I feel so happy I could cry, just because I know things could have been VERY, VERY different.
Being a first time parent and coupling that with having twins, was (and some days still is) incredibly challenging. I have learned more about myself this year than I have in the past 26 years of my life. I have learned what I am made of and what I can do. It has shown me that I must continuously focus everything on Christ and the rest will fall into place. I have learned that the thing I desire most is being an example of love and not just any love but, God's love to my children. In my actions and in my words. I have to remind myself of this daily. Like any human, I fail at times.
This past year has fulfilled so many dreams. Watching these precious babies grow and develop and change each month is amazing. I am in love with who they are and who they are becoming. I am so grateful that I am able to stay home with them every single day. To hug and kiss them 7,000 times a day. To console them, to play with them, to teach them. To experience everything first hand with them and witness every new thing they do. I am so grateful that it's my husband's desire as much as it is mine, for me to be a stay at home mom and I am grateful that God has provided for us in so many ways so that I can continue to do so.
In my next blog I will update what the babies are doing these days but for now, enjoy the pics of the birthday!
The birthday babies!
Some goodies
Singing happy birthday! I made organic dairy free carrot cakes w/ applesauce and all natural frosting :) They loved them!
Daddy and his babies!
Nana cam down to celebrate!
We had their party on Oct. 4th. I had so much fun planning it, I just love the theme! Thanks to all our friends and family who came and celebrated our babies, they are very loved!
I made these center pieces myself!
Thing 1 and thing 2! I hand made Kaleiah's tutu. It was huge and totally screamed "birthday girl!" I had so much fun making it and can''t wait to make more!
Me and my twin sister!!! It is still unbelievablt to both of us that I have twins!!
One word....Priceless!!
