Move
I have really been behined on blogging. And I'm so behind that it's almost too daunting to think about catching up! But I have to since this will serve as their baby books and where we can look back and remember it all. But where to start? Oh, where to start.
I guess I'll start with our move in April. We were so bummed to have to move and leave our million dollar ocean view. We had been in that house for 3 years, since the twins were only 7 1/2 months. They learned to crawl and take their first steps there! We had wonderful neighbors and loved the community (we'd been in the community for 5 years). I'd also really miss being in walking distance from my parents. Man, was the nice. But the owners were selling so we had to go. We looked at a dozen places and settled on a two story town home just about 5-6 minutes inland from our old place. We'd never lived in a two story and it still feels huge to us. It's also much newer (and nicer) than our old place. But the draw backs for me are the close proximity of neighbors (as you know, most town homes/condos share walls). I really miss the privacy of our old place. Almost everyday for months the twins would say how they missed our old house. That made me miss it even more because I missed it for them. Its the only place they knew and they loved it. But they do love it here. They love the stairs and their giant walk in closet. It's amazing. So much space for toys/toy storage. It's a 2 bedroom, duel masters. They have their own sink area and then a bath/shower and potty. It's been wonderful having a bathroom in their room. Makes bath time easy and they can go potty and wash their hands whenever they need to while playing in their room. Our old house had 2 bathrooms but the master only had a bath tub and the guest bath only had a stand up shower. So they always bathed in our bathroom and therefor it was overtaken by their bath toys and stuff. Now, we have our own beautiful master bath and it's all ours! :) Their room is nice and big which was a must since we knew they'd still be sharing. We looked at many places where we would, if we went with it, given them the master bedroom and us take the smaler bedroom. So this one is great bc both rooms are large. They 2 bedrooms are upstairs and a half bath down stairs. We also changed our theme which was fun. Of course we are still working on getting all the finishing touches done, I still have lots of photos to make and frame/hang but it's coming along.
Our theme was always a sort of Tommy Bahama theme with espresso wood and tropical flare. We moved to a more shabby chic theme with white/light ivory furniture, gray walls and colorful accents and patterns. Think "Anthropology" quirky. Mixing prints and patterns. I love it. Another nice thing is that for the first time, we have an attached garage. That has been such a perk. No more lugging groceries all the way to the house or loading/unloading the kids in the rain etc. So nice to just pull in and walk inside. Hubby did an amazing job organizing the garage and we have more than enough space for all our stuff. And with 4 people/2 kids, we have a lot of "stuff!" We still want to organize it a little more but it's much better than our old one. Over all, it's a beautiful place and will be our home for a little less then 2 more years. I don't have too many pics (been waiting until I get everything hung etc before I posted about it) but this will due :)
Soon there will be a wonderful picture wall above the couch :) The quilt was from Randy's childhood and my mother in law gave it to us...perfect for our new style, love the quirky pattern and bright colors.
Just a glimpse of the kitchen. It's super spacious (especially coming from a tight galley type kitchen in the old place).
Oh, I might s well document the twins transitioning into big kid beds too since it happened here! The night we moved in we transitioned their cribs to toddler beds. Figured it was as good of time as any. They were never climbing out but we just figured at 3 1/2, it was time. They did amazing and love it. I was so worried about them getting up but they never did/don't. The first day for nap time I had to go in a few times bc they would get out and start talking or playing but it only took 15 min and they were napping and never gave me a problem after that. About 2-3 months after moving in, a friend gave us his sons awesome fire truck bed and matching pottery barn kids bedding and art work. Kaden was IN HEAVEN. It was amazing to see him light up. I mean, having and sleeping in a bed that looks like a fire truck is a little boys dream!!! We were nervous about it fitting and taking up a ton of room (it's a twin), but it was fine. I was also worried aout Kaleiah feeling left out but they had also given us a cute little princess castle thing that hangs over the bed and she loved it so all was good! They love their room and are always up there playing. The bed is still exciting to them too :)

Hubby painted our tables. The coffee table was free, found it in a yard with a sign saying take me. It was in immaculate condition, not a single knick or scratch! We love it!
I still need to take some "after" pics after we put the bedding on and hung the pics :)

K&K's new baby cousin
K&K are the youngest of 8 grandkids for my parents and until April were the only grandkids for my husband's parents. Now, they are no longer the babies. My sister in law (hubby's sis) had a beautiful baby girl on April 17th. We went to visit her in the hospital the day after she was born and it would be the twins' FIRST time ever holding a baby!!! They loved seeing her grow in Kristi's belly and Kaleiah, being a girl and have the natural nurturing and motherly instincts was always more interested in it than Kaden. She loved to tickled her belly, kiss it and talk to her baby cousin in there! We told them for 9 months that one day the baby would be out and they could hold her. I know that concept was a little lost on them because they are only 3 and have never known anyone else pregnant or been around this experience but they were excited. As her due date approached I would tell them she'd be here any day! Well that day finally came! We walked in and washed out hands and had already explained to them to talk quietly. Kaleiah could NOT WAIT to hold her! I'll never forget her expression, she was so proud and happy and it melted my heart. Seeing MY babies holding a baby was beyond precious but it made them seem so big! Kaden wanted nothing to do with it. He is so much more reserved regarding new situations than his sister. Not only does he favor me in looks but personality too. We are shy at first and we are cautions in new situations. He would get nervous when she cried and refused to hold her or even get close. But they had never, ever seen a new born and so it was totally understandable. I love the picture of him cautiously peeking at her from behind the safety of daddy :)
I was so excited too, for my hubby, this is his FIRST blood niece. Seeing him hold another baby that he is related to besides our kids was awesome. It's so nuts to him and his sis that they are both parents now, and they both have daughters.
Seeing how much Kaleiah loved holding her (and to this day, 3 mo later, she is still really into looking at her, touching and holding her) makes me so excited for the day that we can make them a big brother ad big sister. They are going to me AMAZING!!! That's still a few years off for us but I know it's going to be incredible!!! They will be so helpful, especially my little mommy Kaleaih!
This was when she was about a month old, it was Kaleiah's very first time ever feeding a baby! She's such a little helper and little mommy :)
